The dawn of autonomous freight is here
We’re designing the Aurora Driver to deliver the benefits of self-driving technology to carriers and fleet owners—offering extraordinary potential for growth, impact, and scalability
Solving freight’s biggest challenges
Trained for safety
Trained by expert drivers, real-world data and robust simulation, the always-attentive Aurora Driver is designed to operate safely on its intended route, while continually learning and improving over time.
Designed to scale
The Aurora Driver will provide logistics companies a reliable, predictable driver supply, filling the gap businesses struggle with today—and scaling with the increased demand they can fulfill tomorrow.
Built for fleet utilization
Fully autonomous semi-trucks are not restricted by hours-of-service requirements and only need to stop for fueling, loading, and maintenance. With no hours of service limitations, driverless trucks will be able to deliver a load between Los Angeles and Dallas in less than 24 hours.
A complete solution for autonomous freight, powered by the Aurora Driver

How the Aurora Driver delivers value for your business
The Aurora Driver will integrate with a customer’s transportation management system to seamlessly schedule loads.
Scenario: End to End
Looking ahead, we plan to add custom endpoint options for customers with significant load volume.
Scenario: Passthrough terminal to terminal
Trailers are dropped off at an Aurora Terminal as part of a longer trip and begin traveling in autonomy to the next terminal, where they will be retrieved and continue on to their final destination. This option will be available at commercial launch.
Scenario: Terminal to terminal with local drayage

The early results of our pilot program with Aurora are impressive, particularly its ability to autonomously haul freight between Fort Worth and El Paso. The hybrid model of Werner professional drivers and the Aurora driver will bring exemplary service to our customers while we continue to enhance the critical and long-haul routes that they demand.
Since we partnered with Aurora, we’ve been impressed with our progress towards commercializing self-driving trucks and look forward to offering the Aurora Driver to our customers in the years to come.
We continue to learn how to best integrate autonomous technology into the Uber Freight network through close collaboration with Aurora. We look forward to deepening our work in the months to come.

Don’t call it a bolt-on solution
Deep vehicle integration developed with PACCAR
Aurora has partnered closely with PACCAR to jointly develop a truck platform that enables the deepest integration of the Aurora Driver. Together, we are developing vehicles that support the safe operation and high utilization that the Aurora Driver requires and unlocks.
Designed for commercial scale
By partnering with PACCAR to develop an autonomy-ready vehicle platform, we are laying the groundwork to manufacture these vehicles at scale. Longer term, this will allow procurement of vehicles directly from Peterbilt and Kenworth, to quickly meet new demand.
